The Minor

Students minoring in Public Health must complete a total of 22-24 credits.

Core Courses

Students must complete the following courses totaling 12 credits:

  • BIOL 200 Epidemiology
  • EDUC 101 Public Health 101: Introduction to Population Health
  • SOAN 333 Medical Anthropology and Global Health
  • One of the following:
    • MATH 120 Elementary Statistics
    • MATH 300 Statistics
    • PSYC 245 Research Methods and Statistics
    • ECON 204 Statistics for Economics

Electives

Students must complete three of the following courses totaling 10-12 credits — at least one from each category:

  • Natural Science
    • BIO 111 Ecological Biology
    • BIO 112 Cells, Genes and Inheritance
    • CHEM 111 Principles of Chemistry
  • Social and Cultural Studies
    • SOAN 118 Inequalities, Power and Society
    • SOAN 335 Health, Medicine and Society

    • PSYC 116 Behavior, Healthcare and Society
    • PSYC 368 Human Sexuality
    • PSYC 376 Health Psychology
    • PSYC 379 Community Psychology
