The winners in the Final Round of The Earlham Prize for Creative Capitalism 2018 — The Business Plan Competition for Social Entrepreneurship were announced at Goddard Auditorium. Mashinani Farmers Initiative (MFI) captured first place and the $20,000 prize. They will partner with small-scale farmers in Kenya to address poor farm yields and a shortage of food. Learn More →
The second place team of Ali Shahram ’19 and LeAundre Knight ’19 received the $5,000 Blue Buffalo Award for their project Easy Connect, which integrates technology to existing and inefficient transportation resources in Richmond to create a more reliable, sustainable and effective transportation system for the city. Third place and $2,000 was awarded to The Breakfast Club, which is a food delivery service dedicated to solving an urban problem in Vietnam: the unhealthy breakfast routine of local students due to parents' and school system's inability to provide nutritious options.
Fourth place and $1,000 was awarded to Resource Fuel, and fifth place and $500 was awarded to Richmond Reliable.
